How often do you really take care of yourself?
Something I am passionate about is actually looking after yourself. I appreciate this can be hard & a juggle between work, family commitments & just general life, but why do we put ourselves last & wait until we are ill before we stop? Why is it we wait until we are having a day of feeling down to stop & realise 'when was the last time I actually had some me time'?
Taking care of yourself can mean something different to all of you and how you achieve looking after yourself can vary person to person. How often do you take time out for yourself & do something that actually recharges you, give you a break, makes you feel happy? It does not have to involve money or large amounts of time.
Idea's on how to take time out for yourself:
- Go for a walk
- Mediatate
- Meet a friend for coffee or a walk
- Yoga, pilates, any kind of exercise you enjoy
- Take up a hobby
- Learn something new e.g. new language, learn how to sew, cook & so on
- Have a bath
- Go out with friends
- Read a book
The list of ways to take time out for yourself is only limited by your imagination. Taking care of yourself does not have to be for hours per day, it could mean a 20minute walk, reading for 5minutes, getting up before the kids & doing 10minutes of yoga in the mornings. Find what ever makes you feel happy, refreshed and able to take on the rest of the day with a smile on your face. Day to day life, being busy, household jobs won't go anywhere or for fill you. Make time for yourself instead of falling into the trap of 'just being a mum' or getting stuck in a rut of day to day routine.
